Ezra Leonard
M, #3601, b. 7 July 1750, d. 3 October 1830
Parents
Biography
Ezra Leonard was born on 7 July 1750 in Raynham, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
1 He and
Elizabeth Campbell were married on 22 April 1773 in Middleborough, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.
2 He died on 3 October 1830 at age 80 in Oakham, Worcester County, Massachusetts.
3,4 Ezra was a Revolutionary War soldier in Capt. King's Company in Col. Timothy Walker's Regiment (File W13617, National Archives MIcrofilm Publication M804, roll 1549) . ECL notes they were in Raynham in 1780 when Ezra's wife, Elizabeth, was admitted to the church there.
He moved to Oakham in 1796, when he purchased 86 acres of land there. He is mentioned in NEHGS Vol. 158, Jan. 2004, pp. 66-67. His move from Raynham to Oakham is also documented in his Rev. War pension file on Fold3.com.
Caleb Packard of Oakham testified in Ezra's wife's application for a pension with the dates of the birth of their children from an old family Bible they had. There is no son, William, in that record.
Handwritten note in ECL-GML manuscript notes that the Richmond Genealogy has Ezra Leonard marrying Elizabeth Richmond, daughter of Nathaniel Richmond and Alice Hackett. A quick check of other Ezra Leonards born about this time does not reveal any likely mix-ups.
The 1790 Census lists an Ezra Leonard household in Raynham consisting of 10 persons: 2 males over 16, 2 males under 16, and 6 females. Ezra Leonard had person sources.

Biography
William Leonard was born after 1784 in Raynham, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He and
Rachel Batten were married on 5 May 1798 in Raynham, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
This William Leonard, mentioned in GML's work, is not listed in Ezra Leonard's family Bible, casting some doubt as to whether there was such a William (NEHGS Register, Vol. 158, pp. 66-67). Manning Leonard's work on the Solomon Leonard family lists the children of Ezra in a footnote (p. 78), but William isn't mentioned.
If not Ezra's child, whose child was he? William Leonard had person sources.
