Biography

Levi Allen Leonard was born on 9 March 1798 in Oakham, Massachusetts. He and Mary Ann Horn were married on 15 June 1825 in Bibb County, Alabama.1 He died after 1850 in Alabama.
He went to Alabama in 1819, according to Solomon Leonard Genealogy (p. 112). Also, ECL, #968. Also ECL: He married there.

Ola Humphries supplied information on Levi and his descendants via e-mail 28 March 2008. She is a descendant of Levi. Levi may have been a member of the original surveying crew in Alabama in 1821 and 1822 (Alabama became a state in 1819). In the 1850 Census, Levi is listed as a teacher of penmanship and was living with his sons Silas W. and Alvin S. He was a justice of the peace in Bibb Co. for 12 years beginning in 1825. In 1836 he sold 79.94 acres to his father-in-law Jesse Horn. He and his wife separated before 1850. The date of his death is uncertain. Levi Allen Leonard had person sources.2,3

He was a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He is #485 in Solomon Leonard Genealogy (p. 112 and p. 191). He filled pastorates in North Adams, MA, New Haven, CT, Providence, RI, and Springfield, MA. Rev. Silas Leonard had person sources.1

Levi Allen Leonard was born on 13 June 1828 in Massachusetts. He and Lucretia Stubbs were married on 6 May 1856. He and Jessie Paige Esham were married on 10 July 1880. He died on 21 April 1887 at age 58 in Portland, Cumberland County, Maine.

Biography

Edwin Silas Leonard was born on 1 February 1830 in North Adams, Massachusetts. He and Lydia Beals were married about 1849 in Massachusetts. He and Harriet Danforth were married about 1859 in Michigan. He and Susan Hicks were married in 1876. He died on 16 May 1894 at age 64 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
He was a surgeon. He settled in Ovid, MI. He was a surgeon for the 27 Michigan Volunteer Infantry in 1864.

His mother dying when he was but two years of age he was sent to live with a friend of the family, Mr. Warriner King, with whom he remained nearly twelve years and was then thrown upon his own resources for a livelihood. He found employment, at small remuneration at first, worked hard, saved his earnings, going to school a part of the time, and in October 1857, entered the medical department of the University of Michigan, where he remained through his Junior Course, afterwards continuing his studies with a preceptor until 1862, when he entered the Medical Institute of Cincinnati, Ohio, from which he received his degree the following year. In January 1864, he was made contract surgeon to the 27th Michigan Infantry. After his return he resided in Ovid, Michigan where he practiced his profession. Edwin Silas Leonard had person sources.1
