Gravestone: "Here lyeth Interred the Body of Capt Wm. Southworth, Esq. who departed this life June ye 25. 1719 in the 60th year of his age."

William's will: Taunton Probate Records, book 3, page 575, entered 27 Aug 1719. Capt. William Southworth had person sources.¹ He was born about 1659. He was born about 1659 in Duxbury, Massachusetts. He and Rebecca Pabodie were married about 1680 in Duxbury, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. He died on 25 June 1719 at age ~60 in Little Compton, Rhode Island.

He died on 28 December 1728 at age 79 in Little Compton, Rhode Island. He was buried at Commons Cemetery in Little Compton, Rhode Island.

Tradition says Sarah accompanied her father on a trip to Little Compton, probably to make a home for him, and that John Coe, a surveyor, came down the river in a boat, landed on the shore near the present location, helped William Pabodie lay out the lots, and the next year married Sarah.

Gravestone: "Here lyeth the body of John Coe, decd December ye 16th 1728. in ye 79th year of his Age."
