Parents
Biography
Abraham Leonard was born on 6 March 1842 in Bristol, Rhode Island. He died on 28 April 1853 at age 11 in Bristol, Rhode Island.
1 Abraham was baptized March 6, 1842, at the 1st Baptist Church of Bristol (per church records, RI Vital Statistics -- Arnold Collection). This probably was Abraham's son, who was born on that day (or earlier). The latter lists his death as December 4, 1853, but this could have been the father, Abraham, as both father and son died in 1853.

Samuel Leonard
M, #6733, b. about 1750, d. 1824
Parents
Biography
Samuel Leonard was born about 1750 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He and
Sarah (or Mary) Williams were married on 27 July 1773 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
1 He died in 1824 at age ~74 in Constantia, Oswego County, New York. He was buried in Constantia, Oswego County, New York.
He left Taunton about 1790, according to Elijah Leonard Biography. Also nicknamed Black Sam, because there were other Leonards named Samuel. There were at least five born in 1750. Each is accounted for in this genealogy. Note that Joshua Williams Leonard, this Sam's second male child, is named after his wife's father. Also, all of this Samuel's children headed west, most across upstate NY.
Elijah Leonard, Jr., said his grandparents lived with them in Constantia, NY. His grandfather (Samuel) was a worker in iron and educated in the iron bloomery trade.
Birth not recorded in Middleboro VR's. Neither is a marriage.
A source is the Ontario Genealogical Society Records (Family chart #484).
Another recent source is Geoff Anderson's "London, Ontario: When Casting Was King," 2017.
Black Sam's origins are uncertain. His father was supposedly Timothy Leonard, his mother unknown. ECL has the line of descent as James1, Thomas2, Elkanah3, Timothy4, Samuel5, Solomon6. Elkanah's son Timothy died at age 2, but there seems to be no documentation buttressing this conclusion,. A more likely line of descent is Elkanah3, Joseph4, Timothy5, Samuel6, Solomon7. Samuel Leonard had person sources.
