Charles Taylor Leonard was born on 27 February 1852 in Hagerstown, Wayne County, Indiana. He and Pauline Smithers were married on 23 June 1875 in Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri. Were they married in St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., MO?
He died on 22 February 1917 at age 64 in New Asherton, Dimmit County, Texas.

In the 1860 Census, Charles was listed as 9 and was living in the midst of a Bonner family in Ohio. By then his father had died, but his mother was still alive.
