Biography

William ("Rufus"), II, of Normandy, died in 1119.
He was called "Rufus" due to his fierce red hair and ruddy complexion. He never married and was rumored to be gay. He was in conflict with the Church over his lifestyle and his refusal to appoint bishops and abbots in a timely manner so that he could appropriate church revenues for his own use. He never married.

He ruled as King of England from 1087 to 1100. He was succeeded by Henry "Beauclerc."

Biography

John Horton Asbury was born on 3 May 1863 at Darwin Saint, Bordersley, in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. He and Emma Empson were married on 20 November 1892 in Providence, Rhode Island.1
John arrived 29 August 1870 on the City of Paris from Liverpool, England. He was 6 at the time.

In the 1880 Census, he was a machinist, 40, born in England of English parents, a boarder living on Chaffee Street in Providence. He seems to have been in the Providence Directories from 1885 to 1900. They were living in 9 Stillman St., Bridgeport, Fairfield, CT, in the 1900 Census.

He was living at 117 Burnett Street at the time of their marriage. He was 29 and she was 26. They had had no children.

There seems to be a John Asbury in Providence in the 1920's to 1940's who could have been the son of John.

In the 1910 Census, she's living in Ward 7, Springfield, MA.

In the 1920 Census, a Lucy Pennington, 50, born in Vermont, was working as a servant in the Timothy Shea household in Springfield (Ward 4), MA. Did Lucy and Lawrence split? In the 1930 Census, she's listed as head of household and living alone on Salem Street, Springfield. Lucy Philinda Chaffee had person sources.3 She lived in Vermont in 1870. She lived in Enosburgh, Franklin, Vermont, in 1880. She lived in Springfield Ward 7, Hampden, Massachusetts, in 1910.

He was dean of the N.A.R.D. His parents were born in Germany. He's listed as being born in Dubuque in 1895 Iowa Census.

In the 1910 Census, they were living in Worcester, MA, where Nicholas was a solicitor selling insurance. In the 1930 Census, the family was living at 20 Highland Street, Newton, MA. He was an insurance broker.

Robert C. Hoffman was born on 17 November 1914 in Massachusetts. He and Donnabelle Clark were married on 3 July 1941 in Wabash, Indiana. He died on 7 May 1997 at age 82 in Hillsboro, Hillsborough, New Hampshire.
In the 1930 Census, he was living in Peterborough, alone,claiming to be 20, superintendent of a country club in the making (if it's the same Robert C. Hoffman). The same Robert C. Hoffman was mention in a 1947 Nashua newspaper as a solicitor with the Farm Bureau from Peterborough. He had an interest in orchards at Four Winds Farm. He's mentioned as Robert C. Hoffman, Jr.

Biography

Henry I ("Beauclerc") was born September 1068 or October 1068 in Selby, Yorkshire, England. He and Edith ("Matilda") were married on 11 November 1100 in Westminster Abbey, London, England. He and Adeliza were married in 1122. He died in 1135.
He ruled from 1100 to 1135. He was the youngest son of Duke William the Conqueror. He and his brother, Robert, fought over who should succeed brother William. He was stocky and strong, cruel, lustful, avaricious, a stern judge, tended to be fat as he aged.

He left a large illegitimate progeny of 21. Henry's only legitimate son, William, died in the wreck of the White Ship crossing the Channel in 1120. In 1126, he designated his daughter, Matilda, as his successor.

Biography

William ("The Conqueror, The Bastard") was born in 1027 in Falaise Castle, Normandy. He and Matilda of Flanders were married in 1053. She was a descendant of Alfred, King of England. He died in 1087.
William ruled from 1066 to 1087. He was followed by his son, William "Rufus."

He was the son of Robert and an affair with a girl named Herleve, whose father was a local tradesman named Fulbert. He was said to be tall and with a ruddy complexion.

He succeeded his father to the dukedom of Normandy at age 7 or 8 and was protected by three guardians, all of whom were assassinated.

In 1051 he visited his kinsman, King Edward "the Confessor," in England, from whom he got the idea of succeeding to the English thrown when Edward died.

He defeated King Harald at Hastings in September 1066 and claimed the English crown.

He was crowned king on Christmas Day, 1066, at Westminster Abbey.
