Archives.com had one hit: His parents would be Benjamin Leonard 1684-1771 and Hannah Phillips 1680-1787. No source. From FamilySearch. Benjamin and Hannah did have a grandson named Jesse, b. 1746 in Mendham, NJ, after the family's move there.

While Benjamin and Hannah seem unlikely as parents of Jesse, two other Solomon Leonard descendants appear as possibles. One is Joseph Leonard b. 1689. He probably bought land from his brother, Isaac, in Pomfret, CT, in 1732-3. His children disappeared from genealogical view in Manning Leonard's work and may have reappeared in Dutchess County, eastern New York. Jesse could be an unnamed child of Benjamin who also moved, but settled in western Massachusetts.

Another is Isaac Leonard, b. bef. 1680, Joseph's younger brother. He bought land in Pomfret, CT, in 1727, moved there by 1730, apparently left there by 1735, and was listed by Manning Leonard as another who disappeared. More recent work discovered Isaac and his sons, include some unnamed by Manning Leonard, in Dutchess County, NY. Again, Jesse could have been an identified child who was born in the Pomfret area of CT. Pomfret is near Thompson, CT, where Jesse was supposedly born, and Killingly, CT, where Jesse's son Solomon was born.

Jesse appears to have resided and raised his family in Lanesborough or Windsor, Berkshire County, MA, adjacent towns just north of Pittsfield, MA. Lanesborough was first settled in 1753, Windsor in 1767.
