Biography

Samuel Leonard was born on 12 November 1740 in Rutland, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He and Silence Ripley were married on 21 November 1765 in Barre, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He and Rachel Tenney were married on 18 August 1795. He and Abigail Ripley were married on 3 May 1820 in Barre, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He died on 8 April 1841 at age 100 in Canton, Saint Lawrence County, New York.1 He was buried at Brick Chapel Cemetery in Saint Lawrence County, New York.
He resided in Northfield, removed to Warwick in 1780, afterwards to Gill, and in 1832 he removed to Canton, NY. He lived to be 100 and 5 months. He died on 10 December 1848 at age 98 in Glover, Orleans County, Vermont. He was buried in 1848 at West Look Cemetery in Glover, Orleans, Vermont.

George Erskine Leonard was born on 6 June 1810 in Winchester, New Hampshire. He and Mehitable Little were married on 2 May 1841. He died on 6 July 1890 at age 80 in Warren, Grafton County, New Hampshire.
They lived in Warren, NH (per 1850, 1860, 1870 Censuses). When but 14, he began driving a team from Barton, VT, to Boston, MA, transporting goods for the merchants, and continued this business until about 1850, when he moved to Warren, NH and engaged in farming. Biography

John Gilman Leonard was born on 30 May 1812 in Barton, Orleans County, Vermont. He and Lucinda Thomas were married on 4 February 1835. He and Luthera Thomas were married on 30 January 1842. He died on 5 November 1886 at age 74 in Peterborough, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.
At the age of 18, he went to Methuen, MA and later removed to Lowell, where he was engaged in the manufacture of extracts and friction matches, under the firm name of Goodwin & Leonard, one of the first to manufacture friction matches. Later he resided in New Ipswich, NH, where he held the office of Deputy Sheriff and afterwards became Postmaster of the town during Buchanan's administration. In 1862 he removed to Boston, where he lived until a few months before his death. John Gilman Leonard had person sources.1
