Biography

Elisha Leonard was born on 2 January 1751 in Preston, New London County, Connecticut. He died after 1832 in Charlotte, Chittenden County, Vermont. At age 81, he completed an application for a pension based on his Revolutionary War service. Pension file #13433.

He was the Elisha Leonard, S13733, MA Line, "born 2 Jan 1751 at Preston Ct & he lived at Worthington MA at enlistment and after the Rev War he lived in the Susquehanna Country" for 14 years at different places until about 1817 he moved to Charlotte in Chittenden Co, VT & he applied there 15 Aug 1832." His wife's name is unknown. There were a number of Russel families in central MA in the 1790 Census. Could his wife's last name have been Russel (the Russel name, with one L, was carried on in the family for several generations.

His death is sometimes given as 1786, but he couldn't have been the same Elisha who died in Chittendon County, VT, after 1832.

Capt. Ezra Leonard was born on 30 June 1755 in Preston, New London County, Connecticut. He and Dorcas Brown were married on 4 March 1793 in Preston (now Griswold), New London County, Connecticut.¹ He died on 15 April 1823 at age 67 in Williamsfield, Ashtabula County, Ohio.

He removed to Ohio, probably before 1812, and made his home with his yougest son, Marvin, in Williamsfield. He was the first deacon of the Congregational Church in Wayne, OH, and was elected one of the county commissioners in 1816. Capt. Ezra Leonard had person sources.²

He is said to have been a drummer in the Revolutionary Army.

Worthington VR's show a child, Lovisar, bp. 6 June 1802.

Barbour Collection refers to him as Joseph. Jonas Leonard had person sources.⁴ He was baptized on 24 April 1759 in Preston (now Griswold), New London County, Connecticut.³

He resided in Worthington until about 1805, then moved to Hinsdale, MA. In 1815, he removed to Ohio and settled in the town of Williamsfield, Ashtabula Co. He was a housewright. Levi Leonard had person sources.¹

Biography

Anson Leonard was born on 28 January 1800 in Worthington, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. He and Elizabeth Baker were married in 1828. He died on 28 August 1872 at age 72 in Penn Line.

He was a Justice of the Peace for a number of years. He was a strong supporter of the aboliton cuase. He served as a member of the Pennsylvania State Legislature in 1850, being the first abolitionist ever elected from Crawford County.
