Lucy Sprague Leonard was born on 21 November 1828 in Bridgewater, Plymouth County Massachusetts. Charles Tillinghast and she were married before 1850 in Rhode Island. She died on 19 April 1913 at age 84.

She had no children. She also married (2) Andrew Wetterson.

She was an artist of some note. She had a fourth floor studio in her home in Jersey City,NJ. Harriotte Standish Leonard remembers her as a very precise and refined old lady, always dressed in black satin and very determined.

Joseph Farnum Leonard was born on 9 July 1835 in Brockton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.¹ He and Laura A. Goff were married on 21 June 1855 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.² He died on 19 December 1905 at age 70 in Brockton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.

He was the Joseph F. Leonard living with the Henry D. Evans family in Dighton at the time of the 1850 Census. Henry Evans was a shoemaker, and Joseph may have been an apprentice. In the 1860 Census, they were living next door to Ephraim Goff and family in Rehoboth. Brother George E. Leonard was living with them. Both Joseph and George were shoemakers. In the 1870 Census, the family was still in Rehoboth, next door to Ephraim and Anne Goff. In the 1880 Census, he was working in a shoe shop. He and his family were living in Rehoboth, MA.
