#772 in the Field Genealogy. There were several Zebulon Fields, and there's ample room for confusion (even in the Field Genealogy). Which Zebulon Field served as a First Lieutenant in the Revolutionary War is one matter of debate, but it would appear to be this one. See Field Genealogy, p. 350-351. He died in his 67th year. He left no will, and Hannah was appointed administrator of his estate. Zebulon Field, Jr., had person sources.2

Biography

Corporal Nathaniel Field was born on 3 January 1751 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He and Sarah ("Sally") Leonard were married on 3 May 1774 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He died on 8 January 1820 at age 69 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
Children and info about Sarah and Nathaniel from Wardwell C. Leonard, Jr. Probate, Taunton, 56, 457: Will dtd. December 9, 1808, proved March 10, 1820. Will identifies children and spouses of daughters.

The Field Genealogy by Frederick Clifton Pierce, Chicago, 1901: Corporal, Capt. Elisha Barney's (10th) company, Col George Williams' (3rd Bristol County) regiment; service 19 days. Company marched to Warren, via Rehoboth, on the alarm at Rhode Island of December 8, 1776; roll dated Taunton. The Field Genealogy has Nathaniel marrying Sarah, daughter of William (rather than Seth) Leonard and Ruth Hoar. Chesebrough Family Genealogy has the same. The Nicholas White Family genealogy has him marrying Sarah, daughter of William and Sarah (Hoar) Leonard, born in 1752 (#559).

Both Nathaniel and Nathaniel Jr. married Sarah Leonards, to add to the confusion. Two sons of Nathaniel Sr., Capt. Nathaniel and Artemas, married two daughters of William Leonard and Hannah Thayer, Sarah and Lucinda. Corporal Nathaniel Field had person sources.1
