Lydia Leonard
F, #3160, b. 12 January 1744, d. after 1782
Parents
Biography
Lydia Leonard was born on 12 January 1744 in Raynham, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
1 Daniel Britton and she were married. She died after 1782. She's mentioned in her father's will in 1782.
Note that we have two Lydia Leonards marrying David Brittons in this data base, the other being a daughter of Uriah and Elizabeth Farley. Same children. Something's amiss! Lydia was baptized by Rev. John Wales in the Raynham Church of Christ March 24, 1745. One clue: Lydia mentioned in father Philip's will as receiving one-fifth of his personal estate, will dated June 12, 1782. So it wouldn't have been Philip's daughter who died in 1775, causing David to remarry. Lydia Leonard had person sources.

Rev. Dr. William McKinstry
M, #3173, b. 8 October 1732, d. about 1776
Biography
Rev. Dr. William McKinstry was born on 8 October 1732. He and
Priscilla Leonard were married on 27 November 1760 in Norton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He died about 1776 at age ~44 in Boston Harbor, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.
He had a successful medical practice in Taunton, although he had a feeble constitution and a consumptive habit. In 1774 a Capt. Gilbert, suspected of Tory (Loyalist) principles, was seized and so roughly handled by the Sons of Liberty that he needed a surgeon to dress his wounds. He protested having a rebel doctor, but agreed to Dr. McKinstry to dress his wounds. That act excited suspicions against the amiable and popular physician. He became exposed to insult and injury. Being in feeble health and of a sensitive nature, he thought it wise to retire to Boston. His family, which was left in Taunton, was now subject to increased annoyance. His wife was compelled by a large collection of females to march around the liberty pole. The family, thus insulted, was forced to become loyalists in self-defense, and they immediately went to Boston.
He became a Loyalist, was appointed surgeon general of the hospitals in Boston by General Gage, and died on a transport in Boston Harbor at the time of the evacuation, leaving his wife and 8 children. They went to Halifax, then to New York, then to Rhode Island where they were captured. They later lived in Haverill. One of her sons accompanied his uncle, Judge Daniel Leonard, when he went to Bermuda.
