Henry Leonard was born on 17 May 1843 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.1 He and Mary Ann ("Ann") Meridith were married about 1863. He died about 1928 at age ~85.
The family was living on Slope Street, St. Martin Ward, Birmingham, in the 1871 Census. Henry was a gun barrel filer.

The family was living at 8 Ct. 1 H Upper Thomas Street, Aston, in the 1881 Census. Henry, Daniel and Samuel are listed as gun barrel filers.

In the 1891 Census, the family was living in Berkswell, Warwickshire. Henry was a gun maker, while sons Henry and Frederick were apprentice gun makers.

The family was living at Waste Lane, Berkswell, Warwickshire, at the time of the 1901 Census. Frederick and Charles were still living at home.

Henry took over the business of D Leonard & Sons sometime before his father Daniel died in 1879. After Henry, Charles took it over somewhere around 1925. Henry Leonard had person sources.2 He was baptized on 12 June 1843 at Saint Philip's in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. Or was her name Mildreth? Were her parents John and Mary Meredith? Did her father die in the next decade and her mother marrying Preece?

There was another Ann Meredith, b. 1847, who was married to Samuel Wise 6 Sep 1868, St. Philip's, Birmingham, same in 1871 Census where she was employed as a blacker and had a daughter, Eliza, age 1. She and Samuel Wyse remained married until after 1891 and had different children than Ann b. 1849. Mary Ann ("Ann") Meridith was christened on 21 August 1848 at Saint Phillips in Birmingham, Warwick, England. She lived in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, in 1851. He had a shop on Price Street in Birmingham until 1943. He specialized in preparing gun barrels. Business records show that he prepared them for the Churchills. His brothers Henry and Frederick were also associated with the gun trade.

He was born in the 4th Quarter of 1864 (BMD), 2 Apr 1911.

He was a warrant officer in the Army at the time of the 1911 Census. Pauline Crawshaw, 12, born in India, a niece, was living with the family in 1911. They were living in Litchfield St Mary's, Staffordshire. Walter Daniel Leonard was christened on 6 October 1867 at Saint Stephen in Birmingham, Warwick, England. He was baptized on 8 October 1867 at Saint Stephen's in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. He lived in Birmingham, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, in 1871. He may have gone to America with a younger woman, abandoning his family. Samuel Leonard was baptized on 8 October 1867 at Saint Stephen's in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.
