Biography

Theodore Lafayette ("Fayette") Leonard was born on 10 November 1808 in West Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts.1 He and Mary ("Polly") Salisbury were married on 11 February 1841 in Phelps, Ontario County, New York. He died on 29 September 1889 at age 80.
In the 1850 Census, Theodore was living with his son Lafayette and his family in Springfield, Bradford Co., PA. Theodore and Lafayette were farmers. Abner Leonard, 30, was also living with them. Same in 1860. Same in 1870. Abner is labelled "idiotic." Theodore Lafayette ("Fayette") Leonard had person sources.2

This family removed to Hancock, NY, on the Delaware River, living first in Renssalaer, NY, about 1800. David Leonard had person sources.1 He and Elizabeth Miller were married on 27 May 1784 in Granby, Hartford, Connecticut. He died on 15 June 1844 at age 81 in Hancock, Delaware, New York.

Asher Leonard was born on 20 January 1787 in West Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts.1 He and Mary Gates were married about 1813 in Massachusetts. He and Ann White were married about 1832 in New York. He died in 1873 at age ~86 in Hancock, Delaware County, New York.
He moved to Hancock, NY, where he was located in the 1850 Census. By then he had married Ann White. The family was still living in Hancock in the 1860 Census. Asher was a farmer. In the 1870 Census, Asher was still farming. Charlotte, Albert, Frederick, and Salvus were still at home.

They resided in Enfield, Tompkins Co., NY, according to Vinton. He may have had a second wife.

In the 1860 Census, the family was living in Enfield, where Ebenezer was a well-to-do farmer. His wife was Ruth, and his children, except for Elizabeth, Eliza, and Rennselaer, were living at home. Ebenezer Wheeler Leonard had person sources.1
