Biography

Glenford Sigsbee Leonard was born on 10 April 1898 in Lenawee County, Michigan. He and Margaret Elizabeth Gunn were married on 15 June 1918 at North Woodward M.E. Church in Detroit, Michigan. He died on 23 December 1974 at age 76 in Kissimmee, Florida.1 He was buried at Brookside Cemetery in Scottville, Michigan.
The middle name, Sigsbee, comes from the commander of the battleship Main, when it was sunk in Havana Harbor, Cuba, on February 15, 1898. His mother died within hours of his birth. Per Kathleen Rodegeb, e-mail, 4 February 2006.

In the 1920 Census, they were living in Victory, Mason Co., MI. Glenford was a farmer.

She was born Olive May Wiley, but adopted by the Gunn family when she was 2 and given a new name.

Silas Leonard was born on 22 January 1844 in Lenawee County, Michigan.1 He died on 26 February 1865 at age 21 in Huntsville, Alabama.1
He died in a Civil War battle in Huntsville, AL, according to Kathleen Rodegeb (e-mail, 4 February 2006). He enlisted in Co. DE, 4th Reorg Infantry Regiment, Michigan, on September 20, 1865. He apparently died 26 February 1865 in Huntsville. He may be buried in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, TN.

In the 1870 and 1880 Censuses, they were living in Fairfield, Lenawee Co. In the 1900 Census, they were living in Seneca, Lenawee Co., MI. Anson was listed as a carpenter.
