Biography

George Leonard was born on 9 April 1798 in Woodstock, Connecticut.¹ He and Deborah Stewart were married on 21 June 1821. He and Nancy Deming were married on 28 May 1836 in Woodstock, Connecticut.¹ He died on 15 December 1882 at age 84 in Union, Tolland County, Connecticut.² He was buried at East Cemetery in Union, Tolland County, Connecticut.

He is the George Leonard who had his barn burned 14 October 1851 and again 11 August 1863, both in Union? Yes, they were struck by lightning. He was a very well-read man, having a large library. He built a new house and three barns. He was unfortunate, losing seven bright children. Five of his children died of dysentery.
