He served as a Captain in the Revolutionary War (DAR).

Biography

Chauncey Leonard was born in 1817 in Nichols, Tioga, New York. He and Mary Ann Gould were married about 1836. He died in 1882 at age ~65 in Nichols, Tioga County, New York.
He was a farmer and lumberman in Nichols.

He went to Vermont with his father's family. He may have lived for a time in Shelburne, Chittendon Co., Vt. With Robert, his brother, he came to northern New York and located in the eastern part of the town of Nichols, Tioga County. He bought 600 acres of land and was engaged during the remainder of his life in farming and lumbering. They had 18 children. (Another source said 15). In the 1840 Census, Nathaniel was still alive, as was his wife, and they had 12 children living at home. He apparently died intestate. Letters were granted to George Stanton 28 March 1845, and to Anna Leonard and Nathan Leonard 1 April 1845. (These dates don't make sense.)

He may have had another brother, name unknown, who was married to Ann, born abt. 1815 in NY, with children Jemima, born 1 Apr 1834 in NY, Simon, born abt. 1835 in NY, Joseph, born abt. 1837 in NY, Smith, born abt. 1839 in NY, and Mary, born abt. 1842 in NY. Jemima married John W. Babcock and moved to Homer, MI, as did Joseph. Chauncey Leonard had person sources.1 He lived at E.D. 1 in Nichols, Tioga, New York, in 1855. He lived in Nichols, Tioga, New York, in 1860. He lived in Nichols, Tioga, New York, in 1865. He lived in Nichols, Tioga, New York, in 1875. He lived in Nichols, Tioga, New York, in 1880.

Biography

General David Cobb was born on 14 September 1748 in Attleboro, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He and Eleanor Bradish were married in 1766. He died on 17 April 1830 at age 81 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
He graduated from Harvard 1766 and for many years practiced as a physician in Taunton. He was a member of the Provincial Congress in 1775 and belonged to the military family of Gen. Washington. He served as a General in the Revolutionary War. He was a representative in Congress from 1793 to 1795, a member of the House and Senate in Massachusetts, serving as both Speaker of the House and President of the Senate.

His sister was the wife of Robert Treat Paine, also a member of Congress and Attorney General of Massachusetts.
