Biography

Dr. Daniel Doane was born about 1637 in Eastham, Orleans, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. He and Constant Snow were married before 1669. He and Hepzibah Cole Crispe were married after 28 July 1682 in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. He died on 20 December 1712 at age ~75 in Eastham, Orleans, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.

In "Mayflower Planters, Cape Code Series Vol. II, Merchant Adventurers of England, 1500-1605," the first wife of Daniel is listed as unknown. "The Great Migration Begins" does not list Daniel's first wife (p. 562).

Daniel was the first physician of Eastham and practiced the profession as long as health permitted. He accumulated considerable lands. Most of the acreage was near Orleans. Dr. Daniel Doane had person sources.¹

Biography

Constant Snow was born on 22 July 1646 in Eastham, Orleans, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. Dr. Daniel Doane and she were married before 1669. She died before 1682 in Eastham, Orleans, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.

No records prove the birth of this child. Bradford in "Of Plymouth Plantation" lists three unnamed children of NIcholas Snow. Genealogies of Mayflower Families lists one unknown child of Nicholas Snow and Constance Hopkins (p. 350). Nicholas Snow's will does not mention his daughters, only his sons.

The authority for naming Constant Snow as the first wife of Daniel Doane appears to be a notebook on Eastham families kept by Josiah Paine, for half a century town clerk of Harwich. Paine did not cite the sources of information. The Mayflower Society does not accept lines of descent through the first wife of Daniel Doane (i.e., Constant). (Genealogies of Mayflower Families, p. 80). Paine was town clerk when Nicholgas Snow died in 1676.

"Mayflower Planters, Cape Code Series, Vol. II, lists Constant Doane as a child of Daniel Doane, marrying George Shaw, p. 52. Constant Snow had person sources.¹

Biography

John Doane, Sr., was born about 1591 in Manchester, Lancashire, England. He and Lydia were married before 1 April 1659. He died on 21 February 1686 at age ~95 in Eastham, Orleans, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.

He was apparently an educated man and served on many committees of the young Plymouth Colony. He arrived in 1630. See The Pilgrim Migration, pp. 171-177.

Good accounts of his life are given in Dawes-Gates 2:299-313 and Moore Families, pp. 233-43. John Doane, Sr., had person sources.¹ He immigrated in 1630 to Plymouth, Plymouth Colony.
