Moses Gage Leonard was born on 10 July 1809 in Stafford, Connecticut. He and
Catherine Barmore were married on 17 March 1832. He died on 20 March 1899 at age 89 in Brooklyn, New York.
1 He was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Nyack, Rockland County, New York.
He lived in Pomfret and Woodstock, CT, moving to Rockland Co., NY, and then to Brooklyn. He taught school, later went into the ice business,President of the Washington Ice Co. He sold out in 1873 for $1.1 million and retired. He was commissioner of the Alms House, 1846. He spent 15 months in CA. He established the children's hospital on Randalls Island, NY. He was provost marshall during the Civil War. He was an alderman in New York City in 1841. In 1843, he was elected to Congress.
Another Moses G. Leonard married Harriet C. Allen 6 June 1852 by Rev. Tubal Wakefield - Eastford VR's. Moses Gage Leonard had person sources.
