Biography

William Gifford was born in 1615 in Milton, Demerel, Devon, England. He and Elizabeth Grant were married on 11 February 1635 in Sandwich, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. He and Mary Mills were married on 16 July 1683. He died on 9 April 1687 at age ~72 in Sandwich, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.
Check marriage date. Source of this one is The Great Migration Begins... Seems unlikely they'd marry so late in life.

He was a Quaker and suffered thepersecutions visited upon Quakers, being whipped and banishedfrom Stanford in 1647.. He was in Sandwich in 1650. He prospered in material affairs and became a large land owner. He bought lands in Dartmouth, MA, in 1670, which he gave to sons Christopher and Robert.
