For many years he was the wealthiest man in Falmouth.

Also spelled Blackmore. Was she born in Rochester (which was in Barnstable Co., but moved to Plymouth Co.) or Falmouth?

Blackmore Genealogy has her parents and maiden name as Curtis. Some say his wife was Elizabeth Banks -- might be the same person.

They removed to Falmouth in 1682. Ebenezer Nye had person sources.1

Biography

William Blackmore was born in 1636 in Northam, Devon, England. He and Elizabeth Curtis were married on 17 July 1666 in Scituate, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. He died on 21 April 1676 at age ~40 in Scituate, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.
He was killed by Indians during King Philip's War. See Blackmore Genealogy, page 2. He was first known here in 1665. He came in response to his uncle, Peter Collamore, who wanted an heir to his estate, but Peter wanted a Collamore, and so Anthony, son of John Collamore, came over. When Peter Collamore died in 1684, he mentioned William, John, Phebe, and Peter Blackmore in his will. See Descendants of John Scott, pp. 265-266.
