She was French. Family tradition is that her family came from France about 100 years before she was born and took part in the battle over William of Orange, although on which side is unclear.
Louisa was head of household and a proprietor of houses at the time of the 1861 Census. Two daughters, a granddaughter, and a son-in-law, as well as a servant, were living with her.

When their father died, Charles and Jacob were guardianed out to William Hampton and Jacob Linn. On 6 Aug 1805 Jacob Leonard, orphan to Henry Leonard, age 10 years, one month, was bound to James Lamb to learn the trade of wheelright.
Henry Leonard, orphan to Henry Leonard, was guardianed to John Brown.
Daughters were named Mary, Phebe, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Mahala, and Nancy?
Were there also sons Joseph, b. abt. 1799, James, b. about 1794/96?
The family apparently lived in Randolph County at the time of the 1810 Census. Henry Leonard, Sr., had person sources.
