Naomi Saloma Dessie Ward were married about March 1813 in Chatham Township, Morris County, New Jersey. He died on 5 April 1866 at age 74 in Silver Creek?, Union County, Indiana. He was buried at West Point Cemetery in Liberty, Indiana.
Did he move, with other Leonards, Kitchells, and Wards, to Ohio and then Indiana? Family tradition is that John G. forded the Ohio River from an area in Pennsylvania to Ohio with Saloma Ward's parents and her brothers' families. There is in existence somewhere a family bible of John G. and Saloma Leonard.
He is believed to be the J.G Leonard on William H. Moore's general store account book, 1817 to abt. 1820, in Hamilton Co., OH. The 1820 federal census of Hamilton Co. shows John living there with a wife, a son, and a daughter.
In the 1850 Census, he was a mechanic, 58, born in NJ, living in Clinton twp., Union Co., Indiana, with his wife Saloma, 58, Rachael Leonard, 21, John J. Leonard, 18, and Mary E. Shaeffer, 3. John J. was a farmer.
Is he the son of this David Leonard? There are two David Leonards b. abt. 1737.
