Joseph Leonard was born about 1722 in Shrewsbury Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He and
Magdelene Gumbauld were married on 14 September 1766 at Christ Church in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, New Jersey.

They were married at Christ Church, Shrewbury, by Governor's license. A Joseph Leonard, adult, was baptized privately at Christ Church, Shrewsbury, 10 Nov 1760. A Joseph Leonard was a witness to a Quaker marriage of Joshua Morris of Abington and Lydia Wardell of Shrewsbury 6 Jan 1774. Magdalen Leonard and Sarah Throckmorton witnessed the marriage of marriage of Isack Martin, Jr., and Catherine White 11 June 1807.
In his will, Joseph Leonard of Shrewsbury left half his real and personal estate to his wife, Magdalene, and the other half to his five children. Joseph Leonard had person sources.

Capt. Samuel Leonard was born about 1678 in New Jersey. He died before 13 February 1758 in Perth Amboy, Elizabeth County, New Jersey.
He lived in Perth Amboy, NJ. His will dtd. 2 Apr 1754, proved 13 Feb 1758, names his five daughters and their husbands. This is also in Oliver B. Leonard's genealogy. Sally Toomey has his birth and death dates as 1674 and 1754.
On 1 Nov 1768, Fredrick Blew, Jr. of Somerset Co. and John Berrien of Rocky Hill mortgaged all that farm & tract of land late Samuel Leonards...in the County of Somerset. Capt. Samuel Leonard had person sources.

Judge Thomas Leonard

Biography
Judge Thomas Leonard was born in 1685 in Stoney Brook (Princeton), Mercer County, New Jersey. He and
Susanna Walker were married in 1711 in Princeton, Mercer County, New Jersey. He died in 1759 at age ~74 in Princeton, Middlesex County, New York.
He had no children by either wife. He left a long will dtd. 6 Dec 1755, proved 23 Nov 1759, distributing his property to the sons of his brothers (Henry, John, James (all deceased) and Samuel and various friends.
He moved to Princeton about 1710. He owned much land in Princeton and in several other counties of New Jersey. He was almost continually in public office. He was a presiding Judge of the Common Pleas in Somerset County and for nearly a quarter of a century he served as a member in the Colonial legislature between 1723 and 1744 from Somerset County. See History of Princeton, pp. 42-49.
He was one of four large landholders in Princeton who gave land for Princeton University and guaranteed the construction of the first classroom building and President's house (History of Princeton). Judge Thomas Leonard had person sources.
