Abraham B. Leonard, 2nd, was born on 1 August 1794 in Schoharie County, New York. He and Margaret Harriet King were married about 1814 in New York. He died on 17 November 1881 at age 87 in Saline, Nebraska. Or was his date of death 5 Oct 1879?

Abram or Abraham? There is a second Abram Leonard with a birth date of 30 June 1794 (vice 1 Aug) and a death date of 5 Oct 1879, (vice 17 Nov 1881) no mention of marriage or children. Find-a-grave lists him as born 30 June 1794, died 5 Oct 1879, buried Gilbert Cemetery, Friend, Saline Co.,NE, parents Solomon and Hulda Leonard,

He resided with his family in Hector, Tompkins Co., NY, in the 1820, 1830, and 1840 Censuses. In the 1820 Census, the family had 7 members, 4 children and 3 adults over 25. In the 1840 Census, there were 2 adults, 6 boys, and 4 girls in the family. In the 1850 Census, the family was living in Catharine, Chemung Co. In the 1855 NY Census, they were living in Rushford, Allegany Co. The 1860 Census lists Catharine as being in Tompkins Co. Abraham was a farmer. They later moved to Saline Co., NE. Abraham B. Leonard, 2nd, had person sources.¹

Biography

Solomon Leonard was born in 1790 in Pomfret, Windsor County, Vermont. He and Sylva were married. He died about 1840 at age ~50 in Virginia, Coshocton County, Ohio.

There was a Solomon D. Leonard living in Virginia, Coshocton County, OH, in 1840. Brother Abraham moved to Hector County, so it's more logical that Solomon would move there too instead of to Ohio. An alternative date for this Solomon's death is 1885 in Hector, Tompkins Co., NY. Another possibility is that he was a shoe maker who moved to and died in Wisconsin.

A Solomon moved to Coshocton, OH, and died there abt. 1840. In the 1840 Census, he had a family of five, including himself in his 40's, his wife in her 30's, 3 daughters, 2 5 to10, 1 10 to 15. Was his wife's first name Sylva? Did they have a daughter, Sybel, who married a Hughes? There was a Sylva Leonard b. 1800 in NY in Crawford Co., IL, in the 1860 Census, living with a Hulda Wilkinson b. 1776. Solomon Leonard had person sources.¹

Deborah Leonard was born on 2 July 1784 in Massachusetts. Joseph Grace, Jr., and she were married on 25 November 1802 in West Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts.

Deborah married Joseph Grace, Jr., and was the mother of Ambrose, James U., Maria (Mrs. David Brooks) and Betsy (Mrs. Chauncy Brooks).

She was apparently in delicate health in 1804. Quote from her brother, Abel, who was in Springfield, PA, and wrote back to his mother:

..."Give my compliments to Deborah and tell her that I want to hear from her more than my pen is able to express, for I consider her in a dangerous situation though I said nothing, but I thought when I parted with her, never to see her again, but I am in hopes to hear something different from what I have written..."
