Biography

Richard Pearse was born in 1615 in Near Waltham Abbey, Essex, England. He and Susannah Wright were married on 5 May 1642 in Waltham Abbey, Essex, England.1 He died on 22 April 1677 at age ~62 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island.
He was living at Prudence Island on Narragansett Bay on 14 September 1647 when he acknowledged receipt of a fifth of the legacy for the children of John Wright left by his wife's grandfather, Ralph Dell of Bow in Middlesex, England.

Biography

Richard Pearse was born in 1590 in Panington, Gloucestershire, England. He and Martha Jacobs were married in 1615 in Panington, Gloucestershire, England. He died on 7 October 1666 at age ~76 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island.
He resided in Bristol, England, before coming to America on the ship, "Lyon." His brother, Capt. William Pearse, was the master of the ship.

He was said to be a son of Richard Pearse who resided on the homestead of his father, grandson of Richard Percy, the founder of Pearce Hall in York, England, and great grandson of Peter Percy, who was standard bearer for KIng Richard III of Bosworth field in 1485. Carl Boyer 3rd in "Ancestral Lines" calls Col. Frederick C. Pierce (1888) one of the least reliable genealogists to have published ever and casts doubt on the family history prior to this Richard.

John Pearse was born on 8 September 1647 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island. He and Mary Tallman were married on 28 April 1669 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Massachusetts. He died on 5 December 1707 at age 60 in Tiverton, Newport County, Rhode Island.
He was made a freeman of Portsmouth April 28, 1669, and of the colony of Rhode Island on 2 May 1671. He made land purchases in Pocasset, later Tiverton, and probably moved there in 1682/3. He lived in Tiverton when the town was organized on 2 March 1692 and held the office of Ensign of Militia. John Pearse had person sources.1

He removed to Weymouth with his father while a child. He was made a freeman in 1678 and served as a selectman there. About 1699 he removed to Barrington, Rhode Island, with his family. He was town treasurer there, and also served as town clerk 1718 to 1722.

Deacon Jonas Humphrey was born in 1622 in Wendover, Buckinghamshire, England.1 He and Martha Taylor ?? were married in 1648 in Dorchester, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. He died on 30 October 1689 at age ~67 in Weymouth, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.
H was a tanner in Wendon, Buckinghamshire, England, and was also constable there. He came to America with his father in 1637, remained a few years in Dorchester where he was a freeman in 1640 and one of the proprietors of the town. He then removed to Weymouth. He lived in a part of town known as "Old Spain" on Neck Road He was made a freeman in 1653 and served as a selectman.
