Biography

Deacon William Weeden was born after 30 May 1619 in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, England. He and Abigail Bailey (Weaver) were married about 1643 in Newport, Newport County, Rhode Island. He died Killed in King Philips War on 27 November 1676 in Kingston, Rhode Island.
He was one of the members of the First Baptist Church in 1648. He was a freeman in 1655, a Commissioner in 1659-60.

Biography

Capt. John Luther was born on 11 December 1595 in Shrewbury, Shropshire, England. He and Elizabeth Turner were married about 1635. He died on 25 March 1644 at age 48 at On board ship in in Delaware Bay.
He may have come as a sailor from Dorset to Boston in 1635. He was employed by the merchants of Boston as captain of a small trading vessel. He was killed by Indians in Delaware Bay, and his son, Samuel, was ransomed back to Boston merchants. See "Ancestral Lines, Third Edition," p. 381. More information is available in the Luther Genealogy, 1996.

It's rumored, but not proven, that he was a descendant of Martin Luther of Germany. This seems doubtful, given that the family had apparently lived in Dorset for some time.

Sylvester Colvin Leonard was born on 28 February 1879 in Seekonk, Massachusetts. He died in December 1966 at age 87 in Providence, Rhode Island.
He was living at home in the 1900 Census, occupation: machinist. In the 1910 Census, he was married, living with his wife in East Providence, and working as an office manager in a bleachery.

At the time of his registration for the World War I draft, he was living with his wife Alice at 26 Washburn in East Providence. He was a department head at a septic flushing plant in East Providence. He was of medium height, slender build, brown eyes and hair.

He was living at 124 Washburn Avenue in the Rumford section of East Providence in the 1930 Census, employed as a foreman in a print works. His wife was alive, but no children are listed. He last lived in Providence 02903.

For the World War II draft registration, he was living at 124 Washburn Ave., Rumford, RI. He listed as person who would always know where he was, Mrs. Emma Leonard at the same address. He listed as an employer the GlenLyon Print Works in P'dale, RI.
