Benjamin Manchester was born about 1700. He and Martha Seabury were married on 16 August 1723 in Bristol, Rhode Island.1,2 He died on 15 May 1760 at age ~60 in Bristol Ferry, Bristol, Rhode Island.3
Grandparents may have been Thomas and Margaret Wood Manchester of Portsmouth. Their son Job Manchester and Hannah Archer Manchester were in Tiverton at the time Tiverton was organized March 2, 1692/3. They had three sons -- Stephen, Thomas, and Edward -- and one other unnamed child. Check NEHGS Register 157, p. 113, if this turns out to be the line. Thomas and Margaret had sons John, Thomas, William, Stephen, Job, and daughters Mary and Elizabeth. Mayflower Families through Five Generations, Vol. 16, Part 1, takes the line from John Alden and Priscilla Mullins down to Joseph Seabury. Martha is listed as #445.

In his will, Lt. Joseph Seabury gave to his daugher Martha, the wife of Benjamin Manchester, the house and land where they lived in Bristol (Tiverton PR, 2:296-7). Martha Seabury had person sources.5

Paul at the Mayflower Society listed Nathaniel as #68752 among descendants of John Alden and Priscilla Mullen, so this may be the shortest route to prove Mayflower descendancy. Biography

Elisha Clark Leonard was born on 30 September 1819 in Rochester, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.1 He and Elizabeth Bourne Ellis were married on 24 November 1842 in New Bedford, Bristol County, Massachusetts.2 He died on 7 September 1894 at age 74 in New Bedford, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
He was educated at the Friends Academy in New Bedford and the Pierce Academy in Middleborough. He was in the oil business with his father in New Bedford. In 1850 he was in the same business with Mr. Rodman in Springfield. In 1856 he engaged in the carpet business in New Bedford. In 1857 he was a member of the New Bedford City Council, from 1871-2 was U.S. Assistant Assessor, and from 1873-76, Deputy Collector of the Internal Revenue Service.

He was active in the Old Colony Historical Society in Taunton, the New England Historical Genealogical Society in Boston and was active in researching the Leonard lines. He contributed to John Adam Vinton's book on the John Leonard of Springfield line and Manning Leonard's book on the Solomon Leonard of Duxbury line. He left a major research work on the descendants of James Leonard of Taunton, which was continued by his grandson, George Marston Leonard. Among his papers are Reminiscences of the Ancient Iron Works and Leonard Mansions of Taunton and King Philip's Gift to James Leonard.

He was a Mason. He lived in Springfield, MA, for a few years. He had an office there with the abolitionist, John Brown, and often assisted in the "underground railroad" up the Connecticut Valley. Elisha Clark Leonard had person sources.3

Clarence Ettienne Leonard was born on 10 February 1854 in New Bedford, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He and Elizabeth Standish ("Lizzie") Wright were married on 6 October 1875 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He died on 23 May 1934 at age 80 in Yonkers, New York. He was buried in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
He was educated at a priate school in New Bedford, MA, later attending public schools in Woodstock, VT. He was a teller in the Slater National Bank, Pawtucket, RI.

According to Fanny Leonard Koster, he was Proprietor of the Union Furnace Co. foundry of Taunton. He moved from Taunton to New York City in October 1883, where he became a stockbroker, buying a seat on the Consolidated Stock Exchange. He was a governor of the latter. He was Secretary-General of the Mayflower Society. He was a Mayflower descendant through both his father and his mother. He resided at Irvington-on-Hudson, then Caryl, Yonkers, NY. He was secretary of the Leonard Family Association in 1901. He was also a member of the Old Colony Historical Society, New England Historical Genealogical Society, Sons of the American Revolution, and Long Island Historical Society. He and Belinda Copeland were married on 15 June 1815 in Norton, Bristol County, Massachusetts.1 He and Harriet Morse were married on 2 June 1849 (or June 20) in Norton, Bristol County, Massachusetts.2 He died on 4 January 1864 at age 75 in Norton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He was buried in Norton, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
In the 1850 Census, he was a farmer living in Norton with his wife, Harriet. Same in the 1860 Census. He was still a farmer, with real estate worth $8,000 and personal estate worth $8,000. He isn't listed in the 1870 or later censuses, so presumed to have died between 1860 and 1870. He was a state senator 1848-49. He was town moderator many times, selectman, assessor, and representative to the General Court. His picture is in Fanny Leonard Koster's book, opposite page 132. Biography

Deacon Jacob Leonard was born on 16 January 1796 in Woodstock, Connecticut.1 He and Hannah Blodgett were married on 17 April 1817 in Stafford, Connecticut. He died on 25 March 1877 at age 81.
Was this Jacob married to Esther Pease or Hannah Blodgett? A Jacob Leonard m. Hannah Blodgett 17 April 1817. A Hannah Leonard d. 21 August 1827. A Sidney Leonard d. May 1827 age 6 mos (their child?).

ECL has Hannah Blodgett and Betsey Ann Baker as his two wives. Children may be allocated to wrong wives. Check and straighten out!

Jacob was a stone mason, carpenter, and farmer. He owned and ran a saw mill. In 1866, he moved to Massachusetts. Deacon Jacob Leonard had person sources.2
