Biography

John Gorham was born before 28 January 1621 in Benefield, Northamptonshire, England. He and Desire Howland were married on 6 November 1642 in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He died on 5 February 1676 in Swansea, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He was buried on 5 February 1676 in Swansea, Bristol County, Massachusetts.

During King Philip's War, Plymouth Colony contributed two companies to the army, those of Major William Bradford and Capt. John Gorham. They joined six companies of MA and made an expedition against the Narragansetts. Capt. John Gorham participated in what was known as the Great Swamp Fight, December 19, 1675.
