Biography

David Leonard was born about 1762 in Mendham, Morris County, New Jersey.
He served as a sergeant in Capt. Andrew Ferley's company of the First Batallion, PA militia, in the Revolutionary War. He was a volunteer in 1782 in Col. William Crawford expedition to the Sandusky River in Indian country that became northwest Ohio. The campaign ended in disaster, and the Colonel was captured and burned at the stake.

Could he have moved to Liberty, Franklin Co., IN, where there was a family of 8 headed by David in the 1820 Census? David Leonard had person sources.1

William Leonard was born about 1781 in Greene County, Pennsylvania. He and Elizabeth Frances Whitlach were married in 1807 in Greene County, Pennsylvania. He died before 1814 in Greene County, Pennsylvania.
Greene Co. was formed in 1796.

He died comparatively young and so suddenly as to create the suspicion that he had been poisoned.

Orphans Court Docket: Elizabeth Leonard, impoverished widow, petitions for guardians for children Nancy, John and William; Jonathan Parkinson and Bernard Whitlach app'd guardians 4 Aug 1814. His estate was probated 27 June 1814 in Greene Co.

Isaac Leonard was born on 11 December 1797 in Jefferson township, Greene County, Pennsylvania. He and Anne Hoge were married in October 1835 in Morris, Greene County, Pennsylvania. He died on 13 February 1859 at age 61 in Denmark, Morrow County, Ohio. He was buried at Worden Cemetery in Canaan Township, Morrow County, Ohio.
Morrow Co. Ohio records have Isaac's birth as 1817 and Ann's as 1820, obviously in error.

In the 1850 Census, the family was living in Canaan, Morrow Co., OH. Isaac was a farmer with land worth $3000. Benjamin Leonard and the widow Sarah Burt lived nearby. Isaac Leonard had person sources.1

George Leonard was born on 8 July 1800 in Greene County, Pennsylvania. He and Mary Jewett were married on 3 September 1824 in Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio. He died on 21 April 1881 at age 80 in Delaware County, Ohio. He was buried in Old Kilbourne Cemetery.
He moved to Knox Co., OH, in 1821, spending 16 years there, and with his wife to Delaware Co., OH. He drove cattle over the Appalachians nine times before age 21 and stayed in that business. There exists a portrait of George. George Leonard had person sources.1
