Charles Frederick Leonard was born on 1 November 1804 in Bristol, Rhode Island. He and Lucretia Knowles were married on 27 August 1833. He and Mary E. Pierce Trafton were married on 23 May 1853 in South Port, Maine. He died on 31 March 1884 at age 79 in Mount Vernon, Indiana.

Biography

William P. Thomasson and Charlotte Leonard were married on 25 March 1828.

He volunteered as a boy to fight in the War of 1812. He became a lawyer and had a practice in Corydon, IN, in 1817. He was a member of the Legislature of that State before he came of age. In 1841, he removed to Louisville, KY, and was soon elected to Congress as a Whig, serving from December 1843 to March 1847. He practiced law in Chicago for a time and at the break out of war in 1861 entered the Union Army as a Colonel of an IL regiment. He was wounded at the first battle of Bull Run.
