Biography

Nathaniel Williams Leonard was born on 24 June 1851 in Fayette, Missouri. He died after 1929 in Fayette, Missouri.
He graduated from Dartmouth College, Class of 1872. He married his sister-in-law, widow of his brother Reeves. No children according to ECL, so check those listed for him and Alice Gardenhine carefully. He lived in the old family homestead in Fayette, MO, and bequeathed same to Jeannette Leonard Spencer.

There were two Abiel Leonards from MO and one Nathaniel W. from MO there at the time of the 1870 Census. Nathaniel Williams Leonard had person sources.1

Biography

Nathaniel Leonard was born on 13 June 1799 in Windsor, Vermont. He and Margaret Hutchinson were married in 1832. He died on 30 December 1876 at age 77 in Ravenswood, Missouri.
He was one of Missouri's most progressive farmers, with 1000 acres of excellent land. Town of Mt. Leonard, MO, was named after him. In 1870 Census, he owned $200,000 worth of land, and his son Charles owned $40,000. Sons William and Abiel were at school. Abiel at Dartmouth? He was living in Palestine, Cooper Co., MO. He attended Kemper Military School and then the University of Missouri, where he was valedictorian of his class. His work at Ravenwood farm was internationally known.
