Thomas Durfee

See Carl Boyer 3rd, Ancestral Lines, p. 237, for background about the Durfees (or d'Urfey in France). But there is no line to trace back beyond Thomas.
Per Boyer, p. 238: "The identity of his first wife is not proven, but in 1664 the "insoelent carriadage of Thomas Durfee with the sayd Peter Tallman's wife" was brought to the attention of the Rhode Island General Assembly, and on 3 May 1665 Peter Tallman was given a divorce from his wife as she admitted she had had a child "begotten by another man." Thus Ann Hill was probably (Thomas Durfee's) first wife, and their son Robert the child in question."
Thomas Durfee came to Portsmouth in 1660, was a freeman by 1673, and was granted a license to sell victuals and drink to travellers. He was twice elected Constable of Portsmouth, served as a Deputy to the General Assembly, and was elected to the Town Council.
