Biography

Gideon Freeborn was born in 1639 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He and Sarah Brownell were married on 1 January 1658. He and Mary Boomer were married on 3 January 1678 in Newport County, Rhode Island. He died on 28 February 1720 at age ~81 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island.

According to Carl Boyer 3rd, Ancestral Lines, p. 259, he served Portsmouth as Deputy to the General Assembly in 1675, 1690, 1703-04, and 1713. He was elected Overseer of the Poor in 1687. He had extensive land holdings in Portsmouth, Tiverton, Coweset, RI, and Freehold in New Jersey. He left 500 acres of land in Pennsylvania to be equally divided among his five daughters.
