William Gray Peabody was born on 20 April 1851 in Bristol, Rhode Island. He and Mary Etta Hinds were married on 9 September 1873 in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island. He died on 17 May 1914 at age 63 in East Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island. He was buried at Lot #653-654 in North Burial Ground, Bristol, Rhode Island.

In the 1900 Census, they were living at 172 Walnut Street in East Providence. William was a bookkeeper. In the 1910 Census, they were living at 222 Waterman Avenue, East Providence, with their daughter and son-in-law. He's buried in the Fitz Peabody plot in the North Burial Ground, Bristol. His grave is marked by a stone in the plot with Fitz Herbert Peabody.
