Joseph C. Leonard was born on 4 January 1824 in Pennsylvania. He and Sarah Ann Croll were married in 1846 in Pennsylvania. He died on 10 April 1901 at age 77 in Durward, Perry County, Pennsylvania.

Was Joseph C. the sun of George and Mary or Phillip and Mary? Croll genealogy says Phillip.

In the 1900 Census, Joseph had been married 54 years and was living with his wife in Millerstown, Perry Co., PA. Their son Lewis, wife, and daughter were living with them. Joseph and Sarah had had 11 children, of which 10 were still living.
