Andrew was a very quiet, soft-spoken man, one with great compassion and patience. He would sit in his easy chair in the parlor and listen to his floor model Philco radio with its big circular dial and all those lever buttons on each side. What an adventure it was to lay on the floor and listen to the stories that came over the radio. His reassuring "you bet ya" and "sure" were the expressions he gave in response to requests. He was a grocer, working in Upton, MA, when he married Edna. He eventually opened his own corner grocery in Auburn, MA. Competition from the larger chain stores eventually forced him to close the store in 1960 or 1961. He died in his car in 1962 of a heart attack; Edna was in the car with him at the time.

Eleanor Charlotte Ritchie was born on 2 September 1916 in West Sutton, Worcester County, Massachusetts. Chief Petty Officer Robert Kenyon Ash and she were married on 24 December 1940 in On board the SS Catherine in the Caribbean. She died on 7 April 2000 at age 83 in Cumberland, Providence County, Rhode Island.

She had spinal meningitis in 1950 which left her totally deaf. She trained as a nurse at Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA.
