Adelia's family goes back to the fist settlers of Block Island. Her mother's, Elizabeth Mitchell Littlefield, family goes back to Plymouth Colony.

Eva Evelyn Slocombe Ives was born on 28 July 1898 in Providence, Providence, Rhode Island. Andrew Carlton Regester and she were married after 1950 in Rhode Island. She died on 17 November 1984 at age 86 in Cranston, Providence County, Rhode Island. She was buried at 1st Avenue in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

They married late in life and had no children.

Beatrice E. Buchanan was born on 23 December 1903 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Warren Milton ("Chip") Regester and she were married on 2 March 1929 in Providence, Rhode Island.¹ She died in February 1971 at age 67 in Montclair, New Jersey.

The Buchanan family came to the US from Scotland about 1900. In the 1940 Census, Beatrice was a widow, head of family including her divorced sister and her two sons, living in Pawtucket, RI.

He is a career Navy man.

He is a Captain in the US Air Force.

Eva Cornelia Davis was born in 1874. She died on 12 August 1899 at age ~25 in Providence, Rhode Island.

Jack Barber was born in Vermont.

The Barker family owned (and still owns) a quarry in Post Mills. He had three or four children.

Edith Mary Empson was born on 6 July 1874 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. Arthur Thomas Dugmore and she were married on 2 June 1902. She died on 7 July 1953 at age 79.

She was born at 23 Tenby Street, Lady Wood District, Birmingham. Her birth was registered on August 8, 1874.

In the 1901 Census, the family, Richard Gaunt, Mary Shaw, Edith Mary Empson, were living at 88 Hungiston St., All Saints, Birmingham. Same in 1911 Census, except that Edith's three children were living with them: Lily Mary Dugmore, Emma Edith Dugmore, and Nellie May Dugmore. Edith had had one child who died before 1911. Edith was working as a draper's assistant.

At the time of her marriage, she was living at 4 Park View, Dudley Road, Birmingham, and her husband was living at 88 Hungiston St. He was the son of John Dugmore, a jeweller. He was fruiter. Witnesses were Richard I. Gaunt, her stepfather, and Nelly Baker (Nelly Edith's sister?).

Probably a coincidence, but an Edith Mary Empson was born of Josiah Empson, born in 1877, living at Guist Rd., Stibbard, Norfolk, England in the 1881 Census. There was also an Edith Empson, dau. of Thomas Empson, born 1873 in Leafield, Oxford, living at Waterman's Lodge, Shorthampton, Oxford, England. There was also an Edith May Empson born in Aston in the first quarter of 1880. An Edith E. Empson was married to a Hall in Kings Norton in the 4th quarter of 1913.

After Arthur Dugmore died, Edith married Richard Gaunt (her stepfather or his son?). Richard Gaunt had a haberdashery in Birmingham.

Mary Jane Grace Shaw was born in 1846 in Alford, Lincolnshire, England. She also lived in Thorne, Epworth. William Thomas Empson and she were married on 27 February 1871 at Parish Church in Edgbaston, Warwick, England. Richard I. Gaunt and she were married on 2 April 1888 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. She died on 12 March 1929 at age ~83 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.

Mary Ann Oughtibridge may have married another William Empson and had children Bertha, Gertrude, Sarah, and Emily by him, definitely not our William Thomas Empson. Mary Ann Oughtibridge died 16 May 1933 in Lincolnshire, according to the letter or administration for her will.

Was it Mary Shaw or Mary Oughtibridge that William Thomas Empson married? But date of marriage to Mary Oughtibridge is given as 1867 in Lincolnshire, before William's first wife died (1870). The Lincolnshire Mary is different from the Swinefleet, Yorkshire, Mary, who married an Empson and had four daughters.

Was she the daughter of John Shaw, b. 1827, no wife, sons William, John, and Thomas, and daughters Ann and Lucy, living on Dachwood Road, Alford, Lincolnshire, in the 1871 Census? There was a John Shaw, b. 1828, living with wife Eliza in Alford in the 1851 Census. There was also a Betsy Shaw, b. 1803 in Willoughby, Lincolnshire, widow of a carpenter, who may possibly have been Sarah Shaw's and John Shaw's mother (hypothesis).

There was a Mary J. Shaw, 14, in Belchford, Lincolnshire, daughter of Richard Shaw, 61, widower. She was born in Belchford, not Alford, so probably not the same one.

In the 1851 Census, there was a Mary Shaw, 7, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Shaw, in Alford.

Thomas Regester was born in 1853 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. He and Elizabeth were married about 1880 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.

In the 1861 Census, he was living with his mother and brothers and sisters in Brightside Bierlow. In the 1871 Census, he was living at 24 Chapel Street in Brightside Bierlow with his mother, brother John, 21, and sister Margaret, 14. He was an edge tool filer.

In the 1881 Census, the family was living at 4 H 13 Ct. Reginald Street, Brightside Bierlow. He was 28, a railway guide. No children are listed. In the 1891 Census, he was a railway guard and the family was living in 13 Fowler Terrace, Brightside Bierlow in the 1891 Census.

In the 1901 Census, Thomas, 48, grade railway guard, Elizabeth, 45, Arthur, 18, Wilfred, 13, and Alfred, 10, were living at 41 Grove Street, Brightside Bierlow. Son Thomas doesn't appear in the 1901 Census. The family was living next to Ernest Oldale (distant relative?).

Margaret Ann Regester was born before 2 November 1856 in Pitsmoor Christ Church, Yorkshire, England.

Alice Maude Tew was born in 1866. William George Regester and she were married in 1894 in Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut. She died on 28 March 1950 at age ~84 in Meriden, Connecticut.
