George Bergen Leonard was born on 4 July 1834 in Rushville, Illinois. He and Caroline Lavinia Chandler were married on 26 September 1855 in Chandlerville, Illinois. He and Sarah Amanda Thornbury were married on 19 June 1873 in Virginia, Illinois. He and Emma Amelia Kinney were married on 24 December 1885 in Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska. He died on 8 April 1912 at age 77 in Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska.

James Harvey Leonard was born on 15 October 1796 in Parsippany, Morris County, New Jersey. He and Hyla Martha Willis were married on 30 April 1818 in Pequannock, Morris County, New Jersey. He died on 8 October 1867 at age 70 in Montezuma, Cayuga County, New York. He was buried at Lakeview Cemetery in Cayuga, Cayuga County, New York.

In the 1830 Census, he was living in Hanover, Morris County, NJ, near his father, Paul. He had four young male children. In the 1850 Census, he was living with his son's wife's parents, George and Phebe Squier in Morris Co., NJ. In the 1860 Census, he was living in Montezuma (Port Byron P.O.) Cayuga Co., NY, with Tiphina Plhur, Helen Plhur, Louisa Palmer, and Lisa Baldwin. James Harvey Leonard had person sources.^1,2
