Francis Cooke was born on 25 April 1577 in Scrooby, Nottinghamshire, England. He and
Hester Mahieu were married on 30 June 1603 in Leiden, Holland. He died on 7 April 1663 at age 85 in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.
Francis came in 1620 on the Mayflower, along with
his son John. The rest of the family came later. He was a woolcomber by trade. He signed the Mayflower Compact. His wife was a Walloon. In 1652, he was one of the original purchasers of Dartmouth, MA.
The line through to Elizabeth Washburn who married Josiah Conant is confirmed in Mayflower Families through Five Generations, Volume 12, Francis Cooke, Picton Press, 1996. Nicholas Snow was born before 25 January 1599 in Hoxton, Middlesex, England. He and
Constance Hopkins were married on 27 May 1627 in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. He died on 15 November 1676 in Eastham, Orleans, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.
In "The Great Migration Begins," Nicholas is listed as coming on the Anne in 1623. He was a carpenter, living first in Plymouth and by 1658 moving to Eastham.
His will does not mention his daughters. Mayflower Society says that daughter Constant is unproven in Stephen Hopkins silver book. Info on daughters originates from Joseph Paine, historian and town clerk of Harwich. William Bradford in "Of Plymouth Plantation" mentions three unnamed children born after 1640. Eugene Aubrey Stratton mentions married daughters Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Ruth and "Bowman thought he had three other probably married daughters." Stratton: "For additional information see Mrs. M.L.T. Alden, "The Snow Genealogy," NEHGR 47:81, 186, 341, 48:71, 188, 49:71, 202, 451, 51:204, 64:284, which should be used cautiously."
