Biography

Joseph Munro was born on 12 March 1762 in Bristol, Rhode Island.¹ He and Mary Eddy were married 29 Apri 1784 in Warren, Bristol County, Rhode Island. He died on 26 April 1849 at age 87 in Bristol, Bristol County, Rhode Island.

He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, pension files #3171 and 17600. He apparently joined the militia before he was 16, served in the Continental Army, served on a privateer and was taken prisoner in New Brunswick and exchanged after 8 months, also served in General Varnum's Brigade, and as a substitute for his father, Nathan Munro.
