Biography
John Mott was born in 1570 in Saffron Walden, Essex, England. He died after 3 July 1656 in Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island.
He was one of the earliest inhabitants of Portsmouth. He apparently needed care, and the local assembly voted money to Mr. Baulstone to provide it. The town provided him with a stone house in 1652 so that he would be warmer in the winter. John Mott had person sources.

He may have arrived in 1633 and lived in Roxbury, MA. In 1638 he was admitted as an inhabitant of Aquidneck and on 30 April 1639 he signed the compact reincorporating Portsmouth.
