All of the children, except Mary, were still living at home. Edward had immigrated to the U.S. in 1877 from England. They owned their own home. They were living at 74 West 5th Street, Bayonne. They later owned a brownstone home in Manhattan. They had been married 35 years and had had 9 children, of which 3 survived.

In 1917, he was living at 191 Broadway, New York City, NY, according to his son's WWI draft card.

In the 1861 Census, he was living with William and Catherine Williams, his grandparents, and two sisters, Elizabeth and Catherine. He was a grocers shop man in 1861. An Edward Vaughan was arrested for throwing stones at a police carriage in 1855 and sentenced to hard labor. But it can't be determined whether it was this Edward.
