Biography

Thomas Churchill Leonard was born on 5 January 1821 in Bridgewater, Plymouth County Massachusetts.1 He died on 27 April 1890 at age 69 in Warwick, Rhode Island. He was buried at Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton, Massachusetts.
He was tutored by a very brilliant mother. He met Sabrina while traveling on the old Erie Canal at Canastota, NY. They lived for a time in Peterboro, and William was born there. They then went to Killingly, CT, and later to Palmer, MA. Thomas was a stone cutter and owned a shop of his own. (Per Harriotte Standish Leonard, The Leonard Dictionary)

He died in Warwick at age 70 yrs., 3 mos., 21 days, of disease of bladder, pyaemia. He was a marble worker.

The cemetery lot of George Leonard includes the graves of Thomas C. Leonard 1820-1890, Sabrina L, his wife, 1821-1853, Frederick A., their son, 1853-?, Frank T. Leonard 1851-1929, Emily J., his wife, 1855-1916, George T. Leonard 1887-1931, and Grace G.,his wife, 1889-1918.

He was also married to a Partridge and a Mooney, dates unknown, no children.

First husband of Ruth Hoar Leonard, per ECL. Brother of George? He was only 16 when he married?

Lois Badger in The Leonard Dictionary quotes Emma Burt, genealogist of Taunton, and the Franklin Pratt papers that Daniel was probably the son of James Leonard and Eunice Smith of the William Leonard-Sarah Bolton line. Others of this line are buried in Winnecunnet Cemetery. Note that there is conflict over the ancestry of Daniel and George Leonard.
