He graduated from the University of Minnesota and got his PhD in Philosophy from Columbia University in New York. He joined his brother Oakford in Issaquah, WA, and became a lawyer. He died of Parkinson's disease. Lucas Carlisle Kells was born on 17 June 1882 in Melrose, Stearns County, Minnesota.
