Col. Samuel Wardwell was born in 1755 in Bristol, Rhode Island. He died in 1819 at age ~64.

In partnership with Shearjashub Bourne, Samuel Wardwell built a distillery for rum commencing operations in 1792. Bourne was a notorious slave trader. Samuel was a sea captain and involved in the slave trade. They owned the Eunice.
