In the 1900 Census, she was living with her family in Eugene, Lane Co., OR.

Ethel Maude Dibble was born on 24 August 1874 in Eldon, Wapello County, Iowa.¹ Milton O. Wilkins and she were married in 1895. She died after 1910.

Her father was born in Iowa, and her mother in Missouri, according to the 1900 Census.

She was a matron at Hill Military Academy in 1910. At that time she was living with her son in Portland Ward 2., OR.

Milton O. Wilkins was born on 30 March 1872 in Panola County, Mississippi. He and Ethel Maude Dibble were married in 1895. He died on 1 March 1948 at age 75 in Portland, Multinomah County, Oregon.¹

His family moved to Corvallis, OR, after the Civil War. Their farm in Mississippi was ruined by raiders during the War.

Did he marry Maud L. or Ethel D.? Or marry twice? Or marry Sallie S.? His granddaughter says he married several times. Ethel divorced him in the early 1900's.

In the 1900 Census he was a lawyer, 28, living in Eugene, Lane Co., OR with his wife Ethel, 25, his daughter Lois M, 2, and son Leo M, 2 mos. In the 1910 Census, he was living at 172 Multonomah St., Portland, with his daughter. He was an attorney. He had a housekeeper, Leila Glasher, 40, and her son Everett, 9, living there as well. He was born in Oregon (?) and was 31 or 39 (?).

In the 1930 Census, he was 69 (?), living in Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon, with a 43-year-old wife, Sallie S., who was born in North Dakota of Swedish parents. Neither he nor Maude have SSN's.

Miles Westley Wilkins was born on 28 February 1848 in Alabama. He and Eliza Emeline Towels were married on 24 December 1867 in Panola County, Mississippi. He died on 30 May 1922 at age 74 in Portland, Multinomah County, Oregon.

Mils fought in the Confederate Army during the Civil War.

In the 1900 Census, they were living at 210 Union Avenue, Portland. They had had 11 children, of which 9 were surviving and all living at home. Miles was a freight agent. Son Milton E. was a lawyer. The family must have moved to Oregon between the birth of daughter Effie (born in MS in September 1875) and birth of son Floyd (born in OR in August 1877). Miles and his parents were born in NC in this record, while Emiline and her parents were born in MS.

Eliza Emeline Towels was born on 4 April 1849 in Russell County, Alabama. Miles Westley Wilkins and she were married on 24 December 1867 in Panola County, Mississippi. She died on 15 November 1932 at age 83 in Portland, Multinomah County, Oregon.

The 1910 Census shows SC as the birth place of her parents.

Henry Levi Wilkins was born on 27 April 1821 in Eufaula, Barbour County, Alabama. He and Sarah Matilda Jones were married on 2 May 1841 in Eufaula, Barbour County, Alabama. He died on 2 May 1902 at age 81 in Corvallis, Oregon.

In the 1880 Census, he, his wife Sarah M., and son Gille and daughter Sarah E were living in District 5, Corvallis, Benton Co., OR. He was a farmer. Henry Levi Wilkins had person sources.¹

Sarah Matilda Jones was born on 15 April 1823 in Georgia. Henry Levi Wilkins and she were married on 2 May 1841 in Eufaula, Barbour County, Alabama. She died in 1888 at age ~65.

William Wilkins was born on 5 February 1785 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He and Catharine Weldon were married on 12 May 1807 in Lincoln County, Georgia. He died on 30 May 1871 at age 86 in Batesville, Panola County, Mississippi. He was buried at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville, Panola County, Mississippi.

Another old landmark has gone to sleep with his fathers. Peace to his ashes." Also the Biography of William Wilkins, Sr., by Sanders Newton Wilkins (1922) states that Will's father was in the Revolutionary War and that William was the first son to him after the war. William's father migrated his large family to Sumpter Co., GA, and died when William was 13 (ca. 1798). Then William left home at 13 (mystery where he went and who he lived with). He and his wife Catherine had their first baby in November 1808 in Alabama.

There was a William S. Wilkins born 25 Jan 1764 in Hertford, NC, and died 1830 in Franklin Co., GA, who married abt. 1785 a Sarah Frances Cawthon b. abt. 1760 in Franklin Co., GA and d. abt. 1830 in Franklin Co., GA. The source of this material is unknown, and the records look mixed up. Another ancestry.com source (?) attributes Sarah Frances Cawthon, b. abt. 1760, d. abt. 1830 in Franklin Co., GA, married to Thomas Tate who d. abt. 1785. She was the daughter of Charles Cawthon and Elisabeth Womack, granddaughter of William Cawthon, Thomas Womack, and Mary Farley. 6 Sept 2006.

Catharine Weldon was born on 6 July 1785 in Richmond, Chesterfield County, Virginia. William Wilkins and she were married on 12 May 1807 in Lincoln County, Georgia. She died on 23 May 1864 at age 78 in Old New Hope Church, Choctaw, Alabama. She was buried at Wilkins Family Plot in Chocktaw County, Alabama.

She is buried in a small private cemetery fenced in by a wrought iron fence, located on County Road 2, near the home of Mr. Max Johnson. Only one stone has an inscription: Catherine's.

He and Rhobe Briggs were married on 9 October 1767 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.¹ He died before 1 October 1818 in Nashawena Island, Duke County, Massachusetts. He was buried at Friends Cemetery in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

John Slocum of Chilmark is listed next to Christopher Slocum of Chilmark in the Massachusetts and Maine 1798 Direct Tax.

At the marriage of his daughter, Deborah, he and Robe were listed as of Chilmark. That marriage was 15 August 1791.

Death of John Slocum of Nashawena at an advanced age was listed in New Bedford newspaper dated 7-17-18.

The Chilmark birth records list only Charles, Deborah, Humphrey, John, and Rodney as children of John and Robey. In other words, it only includes those born from 1776 on.

Rhobe Briggs was born on 16 January 1751 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. John Slocum and she were married on 9 October 1767 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.¹ She was buried at Friends Cemetery in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

This is a best guess at which Rhobe Briggs married John Slocum. She is also called Rhoda Briggs in B. F. Wilbour's "Little Compton Families."

A Rhobe Briggs m. Marlborough Wood of Dartmouth October 6, 1790. Another Rhoby Briggs was wife of Thomas Briggs. He died before June 10, 1841 (Little Compton wills.) She died in LC August 7, 1843.

Another Rhobe Briggs was born January 4, 1766, in Dartmouth, MA, daughter of Weston Briggs and Phebe Russell. She died December 22, 1834. Source: IGI record. This Rhobe Briggs was also the daughter of Weston and Phebe. A Weston Briggs, son of John, was born November 4, 1702. His son ? Weston C. Briggs married Phebe Russell, who was born July 25, 1744. She was the daughter of Timothy and Rhoba Russell. This Rhobe would have been too young to marry John Slocum.

Rhobe has many spellings (Roby, Rhoby, Rhobey, Rhobea, etc.). There was quite a succession of Weston Briggs from 1700 on into the 1800's.

An alternative birthdate for Rhobe, dau. of Benjamin and Mary, is 23 May 1749.

John Thomas Slocum was born on 4 August 1717 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. He and Deborah Almy were married on 25 December 1738 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. He died after 1766.

He settled in Dartmouth as a yeoman and merchant, per "The Slocum Genealogy," p. 395..

Deborah Almy was born on 5 December 1719 in Tiverton, Newport County, Rhode Island. John Thomas Slocum and she were married on 25 December 1738 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. She died on 17 March 1763 at age 43 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.

B. F. Wilbour in "Little Compton Families" has Deborah as the daughter of John and Deborah Almy.

Job Slocum was born on 20 December 1739 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He died on 3 February 1815 at age 75 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He was a sea captain. He never married.

He remained unmarried, according to Slocum genealogy.

Elizabeth Slocum was born on 8 February 1742 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. She died in Dutchess County, New York.

Eleazer Slocum was born on 15 May 1744 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He died on 11 December 1826 at age 82 in Northville, Fulton County, New York.
