An article in the NEHGS Register (163:117-133) attempts to untangle three different Isaac Phelps, including this one, one of Poquonock, and a Dr. Isaac Phelps (Cornelius3, Timothy2, William1). Isaac Phelps had person sources.

He began teaching school at age 64, was 76 when given the title of Capt., and when 86 (1724) chosen town treasurer. Capt. Isaac Phelps had person sources.
