She is also known as Elizabeth de Vermandois. She was the third daughter of Hugh Magnus and grand daughter of Henry I of France.. Her lineage goes back through her Capetian and Carolingian ancestry to Charlemagne.
According to Middle Ages custom, brides were often betrothed young -- 8 being the legal age for betrothal and 12 for marriage (for women). The young betrothed wife wouldoften go toher husband's castle to be raised byhis parents or other relatives and tolearn the customs and ways of her husband's family. The actual wedding would not take place until much later.
In 1115 Isabelle/Elizabeth was apparently carried off or abducted by Warenne. She later married him after the death of her first husband.
She had a total of 14 children by her two husbands: 3 sons and 6 daughters by de Beaumont and 3 sons and 2 daughters by de Warenne.
