CLARENDON LEONARD. One of the old residents of Troy, Clarendon Leonard, 60, died in his sleep Monday night, Feb. 15, 1932, of heart disease. His body was found Tuesday morning. Mr. Leonard was born in Leona, and moved to Troy over 40 years ago. He was employed for some time at the old Van Dyne tannery and later ran a grocery store. He was appointed town constable nearly 30 years ago and occupied that position at the time of his death. He was an expert carpenter, at one time in the employ of H. S. Mitchell, later carrying his own carpentering business. About three years ago Mr. Leonard made over the old dilapidated property on the Towanda road, just outside Troy, known as ?The Elms? which he made into an attractive restaurant, garage, etch He improved the surroundings greatly, and made them a popular picnic grounds. His own home was surrounded by a beautiful garden and Trojans will remember him for his ability to improve the gardens about his properties. He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Botcher, of Washington, D. L. and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Leonard, at home. The funeral will take place at 11 o?clock Thursday morning, and the body will be interred in Oak Hill cemetery in Troy, the Rev. D. Young of the Church of Christ being in charge of the service.
In the 1870 Census, Ebenezer Leonard was living with Almon Wilson Leonard and his family. There's a problem with the children. They are listed in the Census, but the Census and other records do not agree. Almon Wilson Leonard had person sources.
